UPDATE: These were our plans, before the Pandemic struck, and are left on this page as an index of what we hope to do when we are able safely to resume rehearsals and performances.
Hoylake Choral Society: Forthcoming performances
Saturday May 2nd, 2020:
Spring concert: St Hildeburgh’s Church
This will include two of Schubert’s masses, Mass in C, D.452, and Mass in G, D.167, plus other items to be chosen when rehearsals are under way
Other pieces will be drawn from the following two books which we hope will be available cheap or on loan to those without personal copies:
Rutter, John, 1996 “European Sacred Music: Vocal Scores”, Oxford Classics Collections
Willcocks, David & Rutter, John, 1987, “100 Carols for Choirs” (for Choirs Collections)
The following website contains rehearsal files for the 100 Carols for Choirs and The European Sacred Music books (so includes everything we have done so far this term): https://royalfreemusicsociety.org.uk/midi-file-archive
If you scroll down through the list of composers (eg. Faure) and click on Cantique it will come up with a link for all the parts. If you click on your voice part it will download it to your computer as a midi file which you can then sing along to when practising at home. The file has your voice part emphasised on piano with the other parts in the background – really helpful when learning the music. You can then do the same for the 100 Carols for Choirs music by clicking on that link and finding the relevant pieces in the same way.
Similarly, for the Schubert Masses you can download midi files from the following: http://www.learnchoralmusic.co.uk/Schubert/MassinC/massinC.html and http://www.learnchoralmusic.co.uk/Schubert/MassinG/massinG.html
